We had sushi for lunch and dinner today. It was absolutely delicious! And it was actually my first time making rolled sushi with a bamboo mat – took me a couple of tries before I managed to get the hang of it. What do you think? Not too shabby for an amateur, right? :D
Nori (roasted seaweed) sheets Sushi rice Cooked shrimp (I just sauté them plain, without oil in a nonstick pan) Avocado, sliced into thin strips and coated with lemon juice to prevent browning Roasted sesame seeds Refer to I Make Sushi website on how to make rolled sushi.Chris

The Sushi looks wonderful! Good enough to eat. You are so brave. I don’t think I’d ever contemplate making Sushi. Has to be challenging.
Mom 2
Thanks, Mom! :D It was not too challenging (surprisingly). Can be a little time-consuming prepping the ingredients for the filling though, especially when doing multiple fillings.
Wow! You made your own sushi!! I’m impressed :-) The last time I made these, was when I was at my Mum’s kitchen in Kuching many moons ago. That time, I had my 2 other sisters helping out, hence, was not doing it alone :-) I’ve been thinking to make these for a long time, but haven’t got around to rolling up any yet. It’s just a matter of time. What a lame excuse, eh?
Not a lame excuse. :D I put if off for a long time myself, thinking that it’s too hard to make but it’s actually not bad at all. The results are pretty comparable to those from a restaurant (but much cheaper) and so much more delicious than the mass-produced ones from the grocery store. :D
Beautiful! The American one is cute.
Thanks, Bonnie! :D Miss you guys…will call you to set a time to get together. :D
